About

I’m a young man, husband, Christian, and purveyor of dead languages.  I am interested in the long-term shaping of persons by wisdom, discipline, and Divine love.  If you have anything to say about what I write, if you want to patronize me (monetarily), or if you have need of Latin or Greek tutoring in the north-L.A. vicinity, feel free to leave a comment or send a message.

Note: The title of this blog comes from Samuel Johnson’s poem, “The Vanity of Human Wishes,” a gloomy and glorious satire that rebukes grasping ambition while commending lightness of heart, contentment, and faith.  The picture on top is a slice of Albrecht Durer’s “Great Piece of Turf,” probably the greatest piece of turf ever painted.
